DRAMA

Dramatic arts is another area which interests the students who are ever willing to try out new themes and roles They also get involved in stage props and decoration aspects of this art form.

Orientation and Mobility(O & M)

skills inside and outside the campus. During school hours two hours are allotted to develop these skills. For the hostel boys these skills are taught during weekends and holidays. (They are taught to reach their destination, using their senses, to board their bus or train or any other transport all by themselves). They are also given orientation when they go to a new place about surroundings, the people around, the events that are to take place that particular area

Daily Living Skills (DLS)

i.e. how to take bath, to brush the teeth, to wash their cloths, how to have their food without wasting and with civil look, to wear their cloths, to identify the currency notes, to search and find out the lost articles, to keep their cots, cupboards and their belongings etc.,

Yoga and Meditation are given a special importance every morning before they start their daily activities.

Oratory skills and Master of ceremony skills for special functions and events are being taught.

Value education, moral instruction, patriotic values, devotion to GOD, becoming humane






The students get ample opportunities to develop and display skills beyond academics. These include for the VI - music, weaving, games etc and for the HI - painting, games etc. The enthusiasm and abilities of the students and the trainers have led to many successes/rewards over the years, especially in athletics, volley ball, football, basketball, art and music competitions at various levels - from the inter-school to the national.

Sports

The enthusiasm and abilities of the students and the trainers have led to many successes/rewards over the years, especially in athletics, volley ball, football, basketball, art and music competitions at various levels - from the inter-school to the national.From 1972 onwards our hearing impaired students particiapted in zonal matches, competing with regular students from other schools, in atheletics and sports. In 1976, they won the RDS Gold medals at regional & district level. For the last 33 years, at the HS level, they have been winning the Buck Memorial Shield for overall excellence at state level. In 1981, St. Louis were the winners in State level volleyball tournament. PK Jason participated in Silent Olympics in 1992 in Sofia, capital of Bulgaria in long jump and received the Gold medal. Many of our HI students have particiapted in Asian games conducted in Malaysia in ???? And received gold & silver medals. In 2011, our students won the Volleyball championship in district level. In 2014-15 they participated in invitation tournament at state level and bagged many medals & prizes.

Music

The St. Louis Orchestra comprising students from the VI section, deserves special mention. The hostel students are trained from 8-9.15 every day. Many of our alumni are now working in TV, Radio etc. The St. Louis Music group has been bring pleasure and joy to listeners for almost 50 years. Students from the VI section are traine from 6th std onwards in classical carnatic music and light music. In Indian music our students have secured state level first rank in +2 Govt. Exam in the years 1999 to 2003

The training is in both vocal and instruments like violin, harmonium, flute, drums, tabla, keyboard, rhythm pads and guitar they are very much in demand at special occasions in and around the city, e.g., Kalpakkam Nuclear reactor facility Flextronics, Aeon, HCL and other corporates, Loyola College, Stella Maris, Vivekananda College and other such premier institutions. Various homes for less privileged children and senior citizens also call for our Orchestra to perform for..?? The Orchestra has also performed at special occasions at religious places like Besant Nagar Velankanni Church, Santhome Church Schools like St. Lourdes Annai school at Kanakankuppam, Gingee and NGOs like Spinal Injury Foundation . invite our orchestra to perform at their special occasions. Millenium Music Programme in 2000 - 6.2.2000 was performed at the campus to raise funds and was a huge success. Film celebreties like music director Shyam, PBS, Deva, Revathi ect. graced the occasion. The St. Louis Orchestra regularly participates in music competitions at various levels and wins awards. including from Shakthi Foundation, Lions Club and Nethrodaya organisation. Many of our alumni have achieved name and fame in the cine field.

KP Karthiban has composed music for the tamil movie Maa and also for the documentary film on ??? By ???
